Portfolio 3.19 Release Notes
What's New in Portfolio 3.19
Data Sources Configuration: Merge Metric Inputs
- A new option is available when configuring any data source: Merge Metric Inputs allows a combination of metric input data from multiple sources.
- With "Merge Metric Inputs" enabled, data for any new metrics will be appended to the existing opportunity outcome set.
- When "Merge Metric Inputs" is disabled, the behaviour will be consistent with previous releases; all metrics will be zeroed out when new metrics are imported, allowing only one import to be the single source of truth.
Support for Minimum and Maximum Constraint from a Single Metric
- A single metric may now be used for up to two constraints - one minimum and one maximum. This will eliminate the need to duplicate metrics for the sole purpose of constraining between an upper and lower bound.
- Probabilities will now represent that of meeting both the maximum and minimum constraints, when applicable.
- While soft constraints may be used, the MIN constraint value is never allowed to be greater than the MAX constraint value. Refresh violations is required after any change to the constraint values, to check for this prior to optimization.
Unit Labels
- Unit labels are now supported in Portfolio models. In Excel data sources, a separate Unit column may be added to the ep Input Data sheet, the ep Master Data sheet, and the ep Expressions sheets. Unit labels are automatically added when mapping Planning Space metrics (although they may be removed if the user prefers not to import).
- Existing portfolios will continue to be supported. Unit labels will be left null for all metrics, and the unit labeling convention may still remain with the metric name. Removing the unit from the metric name will require dashboard widgets to be re-created with new metric names. Old input metric names will remain in the model. The recommendation is to separate out units in new Portfolio models rather than existing ones.
- Portfolio requires unit consistency prior to optimization. If any unit label is applied to a metric, the same unit label must be applied across every imported source of the same metric. All inputs of a metric may have null units to support Portfolios built in previous versions. See Units for full details.
Variwide Chart Widget Added to Scenario Dashboards
- Added a new type of widget for Scenario Dashboards - the Variwide chart. This chart is a type of bar graph where each bar's width represents a metric (shown on the x-axis). The opportunities are placed along the x-axis such that their cumulative contribution is shown. The opportunities are placed in order from smallest to largest value of the y-axis metric.
Enhancements
- Selection Dependency view in the application has been expanded to be consistent with the Excel import format, to improve clarity when defining the rules.
Fixed Defects
- Fixed a regression bug from v3.18 where some older dashboards would crash upon opening.
