Create a Hierarchy Reloader settings template

This section contains instructions on how to create settings templates for the Hierarchy Reloader tool (see Load items from a Result Set). Settings templates are used to establish how loaded variables will be treated.

To create a new template, select the New Template option from the menu on the Template Management screen. In the New Template dialog, enter the name in the New Name field. To copy mappings from an existing template, check the Copy from box and select the source template from the list. Now you need to edit the new template: select the Edit Template option from the template management menu and the Edit Variable Mappings window will be displayed.

First, select the Regime in the Destination Regime field. The Variable Name column will be populated with user-entered variables from the selected Regime.

Then, you need to specify the settings:

  1. On the Editable Grid tab, click on The pen button to open the Cash Variable Settings window.

  1. The number of fields in this window changes according to the type of the selected destination variable. If the destination variable is a ScalarDouble or ScalarInteger, two additional fields will be shown: Is OB Value and Use Start Period -1 Value. These fields allow you to use the selected TimeSeries value as an opening balance.

Check the Is OB Value box to use the first value of the project start year of the source variable as the opening balance of the destination variable, regardless whether the first value is the opening balance or monthly data. If this box is unchecked, then the remaining total of the TimeSeries value will be used.

Check the Use Start Period -1 Value box to use the value one month prior to the project start date of the source variable as the opening balance of the destination variable. For example, if the project begins in Jan-2012, the value will be taken from Jan-2012 minus 1 month, which is the last value for 2011. If there is no previous period, the value will be zero.

Note: The Use Start Period -1 Value box can be used only together with the Is OB Value box. If it is checked on its own, it will not affect the values.

  1. To link a variable, click on The ellipsis button and the list of variables used in the source Regime will be displayed. Select a variable from the tree and click OK. The variable will appear in the Financials Variable Name/Value field.
  2. Then you need to select operations which will be applied to source variables during import. The description of the operations is given in the table below.
Operation Function
Replace Imports values of the selected source variable into the selected destination variable. This rule is always the first and should be specified even if the variables are the same.
Add Adds the selected source variable value to the selected destination variable value. To add a number instead of a variable, check the Is Number box and type the number in the Financials Variable Name/Value field.
Subtract Subtracts the selected source variable value from the selected destination variable value. To subtract a number instead of a variable, check the Is Number box and type the number in the Financials Variable Name/Value field.
Multiply Multiplies the selected source variable value by the selected destination variable value. To multiply by a number instead of a variable, check the Is Number box and type the number in the Financials Variable Name/Value field.
Divide Divides the selected destination variable value by the selected source variable value. To divide by a number instead of a variable, check the Is Number box and type the number in the Financials Variable Name/Value field.
Cum Calculates the cumulative value of the selected source variable and loads it into the selected destination variable. The Is Number check box is not used with this operation.

Note: If the loaded variable is a TimeSeries variable, then the numerical value is treated as monthly data.

  1. To delete an operation, click on The cross button. Use The up arrow button and The down arrow button to change the order in which the operations will be applied.
  2. When you finish specifying the operations, click on the OK button to close the Financials Variable Settings window and return to the main window. Variables with updated settings will be marked blue.

Mapped variables are marked blue

You can add comments to each variable by double-clicking on cells in the Comments column.

Since data in FINANCIALS can be calculated for multiple partners, you can specify which partner's share (1 to 6) will be imported for each variable. For example, you can load oil rate from Partner 1 and gas rate from Partner 2, provided their shares were set up in the loaded FINANCIALS project and were calculated in the loaded Result Set. If you do not select a partner, gross values will be imported. To specify a partner, select it from the list in the Partner column; you can assign partners to companies later on the Partners tab on the Project Settings tab on the Destination Consolidation Node screen.

Note: Working interest shares set up in the original projects will not be loaded. To re-create working interest settings, load the data and use the Manage Working Interest tool (see Copy working interest settings to multiple projects).

To view the list of variables and applied operations, switch to the Linked Variables tab. This tab is for reference purposes only: you cannot change settings here. Use "+" and "-" to expand or collapse items.

You can save the template as a text file by clicking on the Export Settings to Text File button. This file contains the same information as the Linked Variables tab.

When you have set up all the required variables, click OK to save the changes and return to the Template Management screen of the Wizard.
