The Variable Document Manager Page
Use the Variable Document Manager page to create and manage your Variable Documents.
Each document you create will be applicable at the project, version, or context level.
- Select Reporting from the Navigation Toolbar.
- Select Forecast from the Context drop-down menu in the Context/Report Selection pane.
- Click on the Forecast tab, and then the Variable Document Manager page.

Create a Variable Document
Follow these steps to create a variable document:
- Click the Create button near the top of the Display pane.
- Enter a unique name for your variable document in the Documents field.
- Select the type of document you are creating using the Document Type drop-down menu.
- Enter an effective date for your document in the Start Year field. After clicking in this field, up and down arrows will appear near the right border of the field. Use these buttons to adjust the year in this cell.
- Enter a duration for your document in the Duration (Years) field.
- Set up your document's scenario(s):
- Add the appropriate number of scenarios to your variable document by clicking the Add (
) button. A blank scenario will be added to the table each time you click the Add button.
- Enter names for your scenarios using the fields in the Scenario column of the table.
- If you accidentally add more scenarios than you require, click the Delete (
) button in the scenario's row. The scenario will be emphasized in red, indicating that the scenario will not be saved. Click the Cancel (
) button to cancel deleting the scenario.
- Once you have added and setup all of the scenarios you require, use the checkboxes in the Default column of the table to select the default scenario. When a variable document is applied using The Variable Document Link Editor Page, the default scenario will automatically be selected.

- Add the appropriate number of scenarios to your variable document by clicking the Add (
(Optional) Enter comments associated with your variable document in the Comment field.
When you have finished setting up your variable document, click the Save button.

Edit a Variable Document
To modify an existing variable document, follow these steps:
- Select the version of your data that contains the variable document you wish to modify using the Version drop-down menu in the Hierarchy/Version Selection pane.
- Use the Documents drop-down menu to select the variable document you with to modify.
- Click the Edit button.
- Modify the variable document as you would when creating it. You will be able to:
- Change the name of the document.
- Modify the start year and duration of the document.
- Add, remove, and modify existing scenarios.
- Modify the comments associated with your document.
- When you have finished making the changes you require, click the Save button.

Delete a Variable Document
To delete a variable document, follow these steps:
- Select the variable document you wish to delete from the Documents drop-down menu.
- Click the Delete button.
- You will be prompted to confirm the deletion. Click OK to delete your variable document.

Create Additional Document Types
If you require additional document types, use The Document Types Page to create them.
Link Documents to Projects
Once you have created documents, use The Variable Document Link Editor Page to link them to your projects, versions, and contexts.
