The Master Data Page Overview

Use the Master Data page to review your portfolio's master data. Master data is a set of metrics with constant period-to-period values (e.g. price: every year may have a different forecasted price, but that price will not change or shift in time during an optimization).

Master Data is organized using "opportunities" or sets of metrics that are grouped together. Master data cannot be selected but their data is available for building computed metrics. Master data opportunities may be matched to input data opportunities using attributes, which greatly simplifies model expressions.

Master data cannot be modified on this page. To modify a portfolio's master data, you will need to add your changes to the appropriate Excel template, and import your changes (overwrite your existing master data).

Matching

Users can test which Master Data is matched with specific Attribute characteristics.

  1. Use the Find Match button to select match options
  2. Choose a characteristic for each Attribute active in the grid
  3. Select a set of characteristics for the active Metric
  4. Find the Master Data opportunity that matches

Users will see warnings in the Master Data grid if some Master Data will never be selected. The matching parses through the import order from the Excel source file.

A Master Data warning will be displayed to inform the user of any issue that could affect model calculations or optimization. Mouse hover over the warning will provide a tooltip with more details.

Delete Master Data

Obsolete Master Data may be deleted from the model using the three dot menu to the left of the row.

Reorder Master Data Rows

Master Data should be ordered to ensure correct attribute matching from top to bottom. The rows can be reordered within the application using the Reorder button. In the dialog, drag and drop items to place them in the desired order.

View Master Data on Opportunities

With a Master Data Metric in context in the Opportunities page, see the associated Master Data Attribute characteristics for Opportunities in the grid.

The user sees the Master Data opportunity name matched with each Opportunity and Metric.
