Add a new hierarchy

Note: It is also possible to make a new hierarchy by making a clone from an existing hierarchy. See Clone a hierarchy.

In the Home tab on the ribbon, click the Manage Hierarchies button Manage Hierarchies button. The Manage Hierarchies screen will be opened. Click the Add Hierarchy button Add Hierarchy button on the ribbon.

In the New Hierarchy dialog, enter the name of the new hierarchy and select its Price Deck and Currency Deck. Use the Comment field to add a text description for the hierarchy.

New Hierarchy window

Particular revisions of the Currency Deck or Price Deck can be specified using the additional Revision selectors. The revision that is used, if not the Latest, will be shown in the table of hierarchies in the Currency Deck Revision or Price Deck Revision columns. (It is also displayed in brackets after the deck name as it appears in the Hierarchy Explorer.) By default, the 'Latest' revision will be used.

Click OK to close the dialog. The new hierarchy will appear in the hierarchy list.

To edit the hierarchy's permissions, select the hierarchy and click the Permissions button Permissions button (see Hierarchy permissions). A new hierarchy's initial permissions have Full Access for the user creating the hierarchy, and for Administrators. In addition, the tenant setting 'Workgroups to assign to new hierarchies' (see Security settings) can be used to set up workgroups that will automatically be granted Full Access when a new hierarchy is created.

Double click the hierarchy to open it in the Hierarchy Explorer. You can now populate it with folders, projects, regimes and terms. For more information see Add a new node.
