'Copy documents to other Version': Copy documents between versions
Hierarchy versions are independent, so that you can have separate hierarchies of documents for different purposes. However, you can copy documents from one version hierarchy to another. Copying can be used both to create new documents in the destination version, and to update existing documents.
In the hierarchy editor, set the source Version that you want to use.
Using the Tree View, select the part of the hierarchy to be copied (use the context menu 'Select Children' operation, if needed). You can also select documents to be copied using the List View of the hierarchy.
Click the
Copy Documents to other Version button in the toolbar.
Select the Destination version using the selector.
Select the Document Revision to be copied, using Latest, By date and time (i.e. the nearest revision before a specified date and time), or By Tag
Document creation option: For documents that do not exist in the destination version, check Create documents if they do not exist, otherwise the source document will not be copied.
Document update option: For documents that do exist in the destination version, check Overwrite data in existing documents to overwrite the source document data into the destination document, otherwise the source document data will not be copied. Note: you must check at least one of the boxes, or the Copy operation will have nothing to do.
Scenarios: The default is that data for all scenarios will be copied from the source. You can select only one or more particular scenarios using the selector.
Click Copy to start. In the Change Record dialog enter an explanatory comment for the document history, or select a Revision Tag to be applied to each revision in the modified destination documents.
The job will run in the background on the server. Use Notifications to monitor the job (there will be a progress bar), and click Export Log to get a detailed log for individual documents, after the job is completed.
