Data Loader from Database
With this tool you can apply a Load from Database process to a Version hierarchy without needing to use the Planning Space Desktop application to access the Load from Database tool; see Load from a database.
The required loader template and 'batch import' settings must already exist and they cannot be viewed or modified by this tool. Any modifications must be done using Load from Database. An important restriction is that only templates that use the 'Server Side Load' option can be used.
Start a loader job
In the Documents interface, select a Version, and in the hierarchy chooose the document that will be the 'import node' for the data load process. Open the document's context menu and select the action DB Data Load. (This corresponds to the Destination Dataflow Hierarchy Node settings in Load from Database.)
The Data Loader blade will open. Here you can select an existing 'Batch import' preset from the Load from Database tool and then click Run to start the loader job.
Important: Only presets that use the 'Server Side Load' option in all mapping templates (and hence only for 'Microsoft SQL Server' data sources) can be used. The information shown in the blade for the selected preset needs to show 'Yes' for Server Side Load in each batch that is listed.
Job monitoring
Job progress can be monitored in Notifications ('Loading data from the database into version ...') which will show the number of documents processed and the percentage complete.
When the job completes, you will need to reload the hierarchy to see the new or modified documents.
The job can also be monitored in the Job Viewer in the Data Tools workspace (Planning Space Desktop); see Job viewer. From here also you can cancel a running job.
