Customize chart appearance

To change a chart's settings, right-click in the chart and select the Properties option. In the Properties window, open the Appearance tab. Fields in the Appearance tab are described in the table below.

Field Description
Title Check the Use default title box to use the standard title (variable name and view). Or uncheck the box and enter a new title in the text field that will become active. The title may contain characters and spaces.
Enable 3D Check this box to view the chart in three dimensions.
Display the following Check the box next to each element that you want to include in the chart.
Text appearance Select an item from the drop-down list and specify fonts and colors for it.
Legend Select where the legend should be displayed relative to the chart. Check the Reverse Order box to show last projects at the top of the list.
Axes Specify settings of the X and Y axes (see the following table).

The following table describes axis settings.

Field Description
Axis The list of available axes.
Axis Title Title for the selected axis. Uncheck the Default box to enter your own title.
Minimum The minimum value for the axis. If you check the Automatic box, the axis will be automatically resized to match the values on the chart.
Maximum The maximum value for the axis. If you check the Automatic box, the axis will be automatically resized to match the values on the chart.
Interval The interval between marks on the axis. By default, it is calculated automatically. To specify a value, uncheck this box. For example, if the axis displays years and you want to see data in two-year intervals, uncheck this box and enter 2.
Tick Marks

Select one of the options:

  • None: tick marks are not shown
  • Outside: tick marks are shown outside of the chart area
  • Inside: marks are inside the chart area
  • Cross: marks cross the axis and appear both inside and outside of the chart area
Grid Lines Displays vertical grid lines on the chart background.
Interlaced Strips Add a striped background for better data presentation even in the absence of grid lines.
Axis Labels > Hide Hides labels on the axis.
Axis Labels > Settings Opens a window where you can select font settings for the labels and whether the axis is resized automatically when the chart changes.
