Export to TIBCO Spotfire

You can export data from Portfolio into Spotfire for further analysis. After data are exported, you can mark or select projects in Spotfire, and then pass this information back to Portfolio to continue project screening (see Import from TIBCO Spotfire).

  1. Click the Spotfire Export button Export to Spotfire button on the ribbon; the Spotfire Export tab will be displayed.
  2. Click the Export Options tab.
  3. In the Destination section, choose the Spotfire file into which the data will be exported, and select a Spotfire template.
  4. In the Select Portfolio to Export section, select the data you wish to export to Spotfire.
  5. If the selected destination file already contains data, choose an option in the Replace or Append section. You can either replace existing data with the exported data, or add the exported data to the existing data.

  7. Click the Periodic Variables tab.
  8. Select items to be exported by checking boxes next to their names. You can also export standard deviation values (STDDEV), for example, when you have several scenarios, and targets.
  9. Choose Export Options tab

  10. Click the Summary Variables tab. Summary variables are selected in the same way as periodic variables.
  11. Click the Properties tab. Properties are selected in the same way as variables.
  12. Click the Advanced Options tab.
  13. The Data Tables section determines how many data tables will be created in Spotfire. The Two Data Tables option will create summary and periodic tables for your projects and portfolio combined together. The Four Data Tables option will create summary and periodic tables for projects, and summary and periodic tables for the portfolio. The tables are populated depending on what you selected in all sections of this screen. For example, if you select Projects Only in the Export Item Type section and Four Data Tables in the Data Table Option section, only the tables with project data will be populated while tables with the portfolio data will be empty.
  14. In the Export Type section, select whether you want to export your portfolio (total values for all variables), your projects (values for individual projects), or both.
  15. In the Targets & Rules section, you can specify whether to export target satisfaction and rule satisfaction. These options are available only if the Four Data Tables option is selected in the Data Tables section.
  16. In the From Spotfire section, you can select filtered and marked projects to include in your export.

Export to a Spotfire Binary file

To export to a Spotfire Binary file:

  1. Click the Spotfire Binary File Export button Export to Spotfire button on the ribbon; the Spotfire Binary File Export tab will be displayed.
  2. Click the Export Options tab.
  3. In the Destination section, choose a Spotfire file into which the data will be exported.
  4. Check the box underneath to automatically open the exported file in Spotfire.
  5. In the Select Portfolio to Export section, select the data you wish to export to Spotfire.
  6. Select periodic, summary variables and properties in the same way as when exporting a non-binary file to Spotfire.
  7. Click the Export button.
