Terms
In addition to the Regime setting applied to a hierarchy folder and its child folders/projects, the Terms settings determine the values that a project will use for calculations, by modifying the settings from the Regime modules. You can apply Terms to individual projects, or to a folder so that all of the projects within the folder use the same Terms setting.
In the Regime, multiple Terms configurations may be set up by using Terms presets. The base configuration is called 'Default' and each preset can be independently edited to override the 'Default' settings (see Terms presets). You can change the preset to be used with the Regime Term Preset selector.
The settings for Terms overrides of module values are restricted, by default, to the specific project/folder, or they can be 'pushed down' to be inherited by child projects and folders in the hierarchy.
Adding Terms settings to a project or folder
For version 16.5 Update 32 and later: In earlier versions default terms settings were automatically added to a project or folder without terms when the editor was opened (and the project was immediately saved). The new behavior is that the user must do an explicit Save action in order to add any terms settings.
The following steps are used to apply a new Terms setting to a project or folder, or to edit an existing setting. A regime must already be associated with the folder, or the project's folder, where you want to add a Terms setting.
When a setting
has been applied, the Terms icon
is displayed next to the project or folder name in the hierarchy.
- For a project or a folder in the hierarchy, click the 'right arrow' and select Terms in the menu.
- Set the Inflation Date and Scalar Conversion Date.
- Select the Regime Term Preset you want to use from the drop-down menu.
- Module overrides: the override settings for each module can be accessed by clicking a module name in the displayed list. Modules which contain a changed setting are displayed in bold type. For each module to be set tick the Overridden check box and enter new values in the input fields.
- For a hierarchy folder, the override will be applied only to the projects in that folder. However if you check the Push Down box then the override values will be copied down to all child folders of the current folder, and these overrides cannot be modified at the lower levels. (Note: if the 'push down' is removed later then the child folders/projects will revert to the values that were in use before the push down was applied.) When a 'push down' is active the Terms settings in the child folders/projects will contain the message "Pushed down from folder: ...", for example:
- To save and apply the Terms settings, click the Save button in the Terms Home tab on the ribbon.
Deleting Terms settings
For a project or a folder in the hierarchy, click the 'right arrow' and select Delete Terms to delete its Terms settings.
