Genetic algorithm optimization

PLAN can optimize your portfolio with the help of the genetic algorithm. To use the GA Optimizer, follow the instructions below.

Note: To improve the quality of optimization, we recommend first screening projects for obvious abnormalities and poor results by using indicators and visualizations.

  1. Click on the GA button The GA button on the ribbon or press CTRL + G, and the GA Optimization window will be displayed.
  2. The Model Definition tab is used to specify business-related settings of the model such as optimization goal, adjustable parameters and constraints. For detailed information about all fields, see The Model Definition tab.
  3. The General Settings tab is used to specify technical settings of the model such as probability of crossover and seed. For detailed information about all fields, see The General Settings tab. Optimization settings are saved when you save the document, so when you open it next time, all settings will be preserved. Also, the settings are retained between optimization runs; thus, when you launch the optimization tool for a new portfolio, it will contain the settings you specified before.
  4. When everything is ready, click on the Run button and optimization will start.
  5. If you have selected any feedback options on the General Settings tab, the feedback will be displayed during the optimization process. If you chose not to display any feedback, an animated bar will be displayed indicating that the process is running.
  6. When the optimization process is finished, the results will be displayed. For more information, see Optimization results.
