Reconciliation cleanup

The configuration settings in this topic only apply to version 16.4 Update 5 and later. The Reconciliation Cleanup scheduled task is disabled by default.

Deletions of reconciliations in the PlanningSpace Reconciliation application are 'soft deletes' which means that the reconciliation is removed from the application but the data remain present in the tenant database. This avoids the problem of 'hard' deletes which lock database tables and can prevent users from using the Reserves application.

IPS Administrators must configure a cleanup scheduler to remove redundant data at times when users will not be inconvenienced. Note that the 'start date and time' setting requires the time to be set for the UTC timezone.

There are four settings, which are modified in the IPS Manager 'Applications' screen, under 'Dataflow settings' (see Applications settings):

  • Reconciliation clean up enabled (default: False): Set to True to enable the cleanup scheduled task
  • Reconciliation clean up start date and time (default: '15/02/1987 02:00', the time must be set for the UTC timezone)
  • Reconciliation clean up interval (default [days:hours:minutes]: '21:00:00'): the time interval between cleanup runs
  • Reconciliation clean up timeout (default in hours: 8): the maximum time for which the cleanup task will run

Note that a cleanup can be triggered by re-setting the 'start date and time' to a future time.

Any change in these settings requires a restart of the Dataflow application to take effect. The cleanup process may require an additional database storage allocation to operate.

Note: If the date-time or timezone settings of an IPS server machine are changed, then the IPS Service must be re-started.
