Units of Work

Units of work are used with resources in the scheduler. Each resource can have accrual amounts and under what conditions they are spent in the designated time period. The refresh rate and Max Units of Work Accrued are listed on the resource. The well’s required units in order for the activity to perform can be listed in the default settings on the activity step as well as in the well list.

Example Frac Water

A frac program requires units of water from a pond, which replenishes at 1,000 units per month with a max capacity of 2,000 units per month. A frac requires 450 units of water to proceed, and cannot do so until the necessary units of work have accumulated.

Example Well Count by Year

If you have a drilling program that requires a fixed wellcount by period (month or year), the "Units of Work" can be used in the scheduler to model that program.

  1. Create a time series array of your wellcount:
  2. Click image to expand or minimize.

  3. Create a drilling program and fill in 1 unit of work for the drilling step:
  4. Click image to expand or minimize.

  5. Create a rig resource in the Resources tab and fill in the units of work with a function referencing the time series created:
  6. Click image to expand or minimize.

When the project is run without any other resource constraints, the wellcount will match the input array:
