Differences between Sequencer and Drill to Fill

  • Sequencer pre-calculates the potential start date of every well in PrePass Scheduling
  • In the Sequencer, the Scheduler determines when the ‘Can Produce’ Step of the Drilling Program occurs and plans the wells activity accordingly
  • The Fill Facility begins drilling wells when a production threshold is met, whereas the Sequencer drills wells in advance in order to more closely meet facility constraints
  • The Sequencer works well with pads, while the Fill Facility is most efficient with single wells
  • Fill Facility takes into account the production of all wells flowing into that facility (PDPs for example), other expansions, and any impact on the overall network
  • Since the sequencer does not look at actual production flowing through the facility, it can be used with a dummy facility or inactive constraint. When targeting facilities that already have a large amount of production flowing through, you have to lower your target, or include the already producing wells in the sequencer program.
