Cloning Excess Policy

A cloning excess policy build one or more replicas of a facility when an threatened excess state is detected, in order to process the excess fluid. This type of policy is especially useful when performing an Automatic Development, to clone those facilities that are not directly connected to the reservoir's wells.

  • Clone this Facility...: Select the fluid to be measured from a list of out connectors defined for the facility.
  • Unused capacity: This option allows you to preempt a future capacity shortfall by starting the cloning when a certain threshold is reached. If, for example, the facility capacity is 100 Mbpd and the unused capacity setting is 10%, the cloning will commence when the facility production has reached 90 Mbpd.
  • Max Clones: Set a maximum number of clones to be built. If not enabled, the facility will be cloned again each time the combined capacity of the original facility and its existing clones is exceeded.
  • A cloning policy is defined similarly to a Facility Construction job; you must enter the Construction Time, CapExand OpExof the expansion.
  • Activitiesand Construction Resource Requirements can also be defined.

Facility clones created by an excess policy are not included in jobs that refer to their original facility (which may be Abandonment, Facility Production Rerouting, Facility Expansion and Facility Maintenance).

Incoming production is not split evenly between the existing clones, but each fluid is processed by each clone to the full of its capacity before proceeding to the next one. This will be reflected in the Excel Reports, since each clone's production will be reported separately.

Pipelines are not duplicated along with their associated facilities when the latter are cloned by a Cloning Excess Policy.
