Wells Tab
The Wells tab lists all wells defined in a reservoir, and as many of its details as can be displayed in tabular form; see Model Object Tables for more on this type of table and available commands.
Some columns are only shown if the data are enabled elsewhere. These are:
- Drilling and Completion Rig: only when working in Extended Rig Mode.
- Well ID: Only if at least one well in the reservoir has an ID.
- Working Interest ad Net Interest: only if enabled in Contracts.
The main use of this tab is the ability to view all wells and manage them simultaneously, which allows to make changes to several well inputs at the same time. Detailed edition of separate wells, on the other hand, is best performed in the Well Details Tab.
Apart from the usual commands found in tables, two special commands are specific to the Wells tab:
- Open in Window: open the selected wells in a separate window. This is especially adequate for using the Working with Tables option.
- Create Well Group: Add the selected wells to a new group; see User Groups.
Unlike other Model Object Tables, the Wells table allows you to modify values and attributes that are defined in the group the well belongs to, but this modifies the whole group - for example, if you enter a new Drilling Time in a well that already belongs to a Drilling Info Group, you will see that all the wells that belong to that group have their Drilling Time updated accordingly.
You can paste values from an external source (e.g. Excel) like in any other table. If you paste a series of different values on fields that are already defined by a well group - for example, two different values in the Drilling Time of wells belonging to the same group, you will be asked to choose between:
- Detaching from the group those wells with a different new value.
- Creating new groups for those wells with a different new value. PetroVR will create as many groups as necessary to account for all the different new well definitions (but two wells with the same new definition will be allocated to the same new group.)
- Cancelling.
Columns in the Wells table can be re-ordered by drag-and-dropping the headers, or using the Reorder Columns command in the right-click menu. This will open a new window where you can move the columns up and down. Since the Wells table has a large number of columns, this view may be helpful to gain an overview of all the available fields.
The Connected Facility column indicates the facility to which the well is connected, and can be changed using a dropdown list. If the well is connected to more than one facility the cell will be disabled with a "Multiple" label.
