How do I define water and gas injection?

You can track and constrain both water and gas injection in PetroVR.

You will need the following injection related components in your model:

  • One or more water or gas Injection Facilities.
  • Water/gas injection Well Node.
  • Once the components above are defined, connect the injection wells to the injection facilities in the Surface Layout.
  • In the Surface Layout, connect facilities to route the produced water or gas (if any) to the injection facilities.
  • If required, define the source (makeup) water or gas available by checking the Water/Gas Injection Supply option in the General Tab (Facility) of the injection facilities.
  • If required, a voidage replacement limit and injection well abandonment rules can be set in the reservoir Injection Tab.

Once the injection system is modeled, the injection facility Simulation Graphs will show the following injection-specific items:

  • Injected: Actually injected volume, which is the lower of the production available for injection (including source volume), injection facility inflow capacity, injection facility injection capacity, well injection capacity and voidage replacement target (water injection only).
  • Produced Water/Gas: Produced water/gas routed to the facility.
  • Facility Flow Capacity: Total inflow handling capacity of the facility as defined in the Capacity Sub-Tab. Note that any inflow to an injection facility may be routed to injection or to a downstream facility.
  • Available to Inject: Available source volume plus produced water/gas routed to the facility.
  • Facility Injection Capacity: Facility injection capacity as defined in the capacity General tab.
  • Wells Injection Limit: Total capacity of injection wells.
