PetroVR 2022 Release Notes
PetroVR 2022 brings exciting new capabilities to enable you to rapidly analyze large and complex data sets alongside an enhanced integration with PlanningSpace to further streamline your Asset to Corporate workflows.
Data Analysis Tools
New Monte Carlo Clustering options: Analysis of uncertainty risks investigated via Monte Carlo scenarios is easier than ever with the redesigned Monte Carlo Clustering tool. This analysis option allows for the clear visualization of outcomes, automatically grouped in accordance with divergent sampled probabilistic inputs to identify which decisions and risks contribute to materially different outcomes.
As a part of this tooling, you are able to delve deeper into just the iterations making up the cluster to help you rapidly gain greater insight into the causes of the overall outcome and identify how best to leverage and/or mitigate as appropriate. We also enable you to edit and name the clusters for ease of being able to use in your presentation material
Among the new cluster capabilities, a new graph called “Cluster Tree” provides a useful comparison of values and enables the navigation through different branches and cluster levels.
Excel Reports from Result Files: Excel reports may now be generated immediately after opening a Results file from a previous PetroVR session, having been enhanced to include all the required data elements. This means you no longer need to re-run the simulation, saving you time from pre-emptively exporting results that you may need in the future or having to recalculate once identified as necessary.
JSON result export option: In addition to exporting Excel reports and graphs, PetroVR includes now an option to export the whole set of PetroVR results as a JSON file. This standard data interchange format is compatible with interactive data visualization and Business Intelligence applications, removing previous manual manipulation efforts and streamlining your workflow as you bring PetroVR’s detailed data into your preferred external analysis tooling.
Integration with other Aucerna Products
Dataflow 20 Series Support: To ensure a seamless experience as you upgrade your version of PlanningSpace, we have extended this integration to automatically identify the version of Dataflow in use and adjust how information is published to allow for the superior performance and responsiveness of this upgrade.
EaaS Reliability Enhancements: Both PetroVR and PlanningSpace have been enhanced to ensure robust support for intense traffic multi-user Economics-As-A-Service workflows, particularly as groups of planners run large numbers of Monte Carlo iterations. To ensure compatibility with your specific environmental factors, we have added options to set different timeouts for client-server communications, together with a mechanism to re-run timed-out Monte Carlo iterations.
EaaS Incremental Projects, Term selection, and Custom Price Decks: PetroVR’s integration with EaaS has been enhanced to enable a greater number of workflows and calculation options to be accessed directly from PetroVR, helping you to remain within just one tool. Specifically:
- PetroVR can now access non-empty PlanningSpace hierarchies and update their projects with new data. This enables retaining any previously setup Incremental calculations settings from PS.Economics.
- You can now select different regime Terms for each project included within the hierarchy allowing more streamlined and flexible workflows.
- PetroVR now supports an option to enable using Custom Price decks defined for the hierarchy in PlanningSpace.
Quality, Speed and User Experience
When using Multi-Core processing of Monte Carlo, a Monte Carlo Monitor window has been added, where all runtime info related to processes (cores) is displayed as iterations are distributed and run, enabling greater insight as to status and faster identification of any issues that may have been encountered.
Scenarios Multi-core runs also include a similar Monitor Window.
Simulation speed: some key low-level enhancements introduced in this release greatly impact calculation speed, achieving in some case up to 60% reduction of simulation time, noticeable in larger models.
In addition, this version includes several enhancements on GUI responsiveness, memory management, reports, and validation.
